laini taylor is a kite*.
night of cake and puppets is the most magical of her books, and it has her trademark butterfly prose, that flutters and dances and is so much more than beautiful. her magic is in words that are so purple but so real. because come on-
Life doesn’t need magic to be magical.
(But a little bit sure doesn’t hurt.)
a night when a rabid fairy and a boy who was taken by the devil meet, a night of cake and puppets, and of believing. i won’t call it cute because that’s for puppies and shoes. instead, this book is what snowfall and hot chocolate and harry potter comforter and fireflies and someone you really like in an empty street would be- minus the damp, a bit of cold and the creepiness- if only all that could be captured into a few pages, which laini taylor because she’s just awesome, and she did it like she captured hope for days of blood and starlight.
go read it before the world does and revel.
for that’s all you can do with this book, and for that i’m thankful because i’ve had a tough time of it. and go read it because i’m cold and hungry and have got lots of homework and my pants are on all wrong and I need to read it again- slowly this time- so i won’t be here much longer.
*really, how does her name just not put you in mind of a kite? a really good-pink/lavender/baby blue kite that flies high and rushes and cuts down other kites, or not, if it’s in the mood of being merciful.
oh and wait! what’s up with DoSaB #2.5? this ain’t 2.5! it’s mid of book one, whatever you call that.
RECOMMENDATION? HELL YEAH! THE WHOLE SERIES IS A NOT A RECOMMENDATION, BUT A PLEA, A PROMISE! LAINI TAYLOR IS THE PROMISE, THE KNOW!
Here we go. I have scuppies in my pocket and lust in my heart. Tonight’s the night.
